As March 2024 unfolds, a cascade of significant financial and administrative deadlines looms. From optimizing tax-saving investments to ensuring accurate Aadhaar card details, maintaining organizational prowess is paramount to sidestepping any eleventh-hour complications. Notably, patrons of Paytm Payments Bank must expedite fund transfers to alternative accounts by the 15th, while complimentary Aadhaar updates will cease on the 14th, incurring charges thereafter.

March 14

Aadhaar Update Deadline: March 14 marks the culmination of the grace period for free Aadhaar card updates. Beyond this date, any alterations will incur charges.

March 15

• Paytm Payments Bank Transition: Customers of Paytm Payments Bank must effectuate asset transfers to alternate banks by this date. Post-March 15, depositing funds or executing credit transactions into Paytm bank accounts becomes unfeasible.
• Fourth Instalment of Advance Tax: This date serves as the final opportunity to remit the fourth instalment of advance tax for the fiscal year 2023-2024.

March 31

• Tax-Saving Investments Deadline: March 31 denotes the cutoff for making investments that facilitate tax savings for the fiscal year 2023-2024.
• Revised ITR Submission for FY 21-22: The deadline for furnishing a revised Income Tax Return (ITR) for the financial year 2021-2022 is March 31, 2024. Consequently, taxpayers who omitted filing returns for that fiscal year or inadvertently neglected to report any income can avail themselves of the opportunity to submit a revised ITR or ITR-U.
• Taxpayers possess the liberty to file an updated return within 24 months (2 years) from the culmination of the relevant assessment year, provided certain prerequisites are met. Hence, if taxpayers overlooked filing for the fiscal year 2019-2020, they can rectify this until March 31.

FASTag KYC Update: In response to the challenges encountered by Paytm FASTag users, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has extended the compliance deadline for the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' initiative until March 31, 2024.

Consequently, FASTag users are granted an additional month to fulfill the Know Your Customer (KYC) requisites.
