Father of Disha Salian Sends Defamation Notice to Aditya Thackeray and Anil Deshmukh

Mumbai, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant legal development, Satish Salian, the father of Disha Salian, has issued a defamation notice worth ₹500 crore to Aditya Thackeray, a leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. The notice, sent on September 17, 2026, challenges statements made by both leaders that Satish claims have harmed his family's reputation.He demands a public apology and the retraction of these statements, providing a deadline of seven days for compliance. This notice comes as the investigation into Disha Salian's death has resurfaced, with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) now involved. Following an order from the Bombay High Court, the CBI has registered a First Information Report (FIR) and is re-examining various aspects of the case, including police actions, witness statements, and forensic evidence.In the defamation notice, Satish Salian expresses concern that the remarks made by Thackeray and Deshmukh have negatively impacted his and his family's reputation. He has consistently questioned the initial findings surrounding his daughter's death, which occurred on June 8, 2020, when she fell from a building in Malad, Mumbai. Initially ruled a suicide by the Mumbai police, the case has seen renewed scrutiny, particularly from Satish, who has called for a comprehensive investigation.During the High Court hearings, several facets of the investigation were called into question. The court reviewed CCTV footage, witness testimonies, and post-mortem reports before ordering the case to be taken over by a central agency. As a result, the CBI has included several names in the FIR, including Aditya Thackeray, Suraj Pancholi, Dino Morea, and Rhea Chakraborty. Aditya Thackeray has publicly denied any connection to Disha Salian, asserting that he never met her and that his name has been dragged into the controversy for political reasons.He claims that this is a deliberate attempt to tarnish his image and insists that investigative agencies should be allowed to work without political interference.
