New Delhi: In a major development linked to the NEET examination controversy, members of the Biwal family—once highlighted for their academic success—have been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with an alleged paper leak and admission racket.

In 2025, five members of the family had gained admission to medical colleges after clearing the NEET exam, which is taken by more than 20 lakh candidates annually. Their achievement had briefly gained widespread attention on social media, with congratulatory messages and promotional content shared by coaching institutes.

Dinesh Biwal had also posted on social media on November 6, 2025, expressing pride that five children from the family had secured MBBS seats in government medical colleges.

Nearly a year later, Dinesh Biwal, along with his brother Mangilal and nephew Vikas, has been arrested in connection with the NEET paper leak investigation, which is being probed as part of an alleged education fraud network.

Investigators are examining whether the family’s academic results were achieved solely through merit or were influenced by the alleged racket. Officials are also reviewing performance records of the candidates, including Class 10 and 12 marks, NEET scores, and coaching institute test results.

According to details, Vikas—son of Mangilal—secured admission at Sawai Madhopur Medical College. He had scored 63% in Class 10 and 55% in Class 12. He scored 270 marks in NEET 2024, while his average score in coaching tests in Sikar was 384.

Mangilal’s daughter Pragati gained admission to Dausa Medical College. She had scored 69% in Class 10 and 91% in Class 12. She scored 332 in NEET 2024, with coaching test averages around 302, and later secured admission with an 89.08 percentile in NEET 2025.

Dinesh Biwal’s daughter Gunjan, who had scored 86% in Class 10 and 70% in Class 12, had a NEET 2024 score of 355 and coaching test averages between 320 and 342. She later secured admission to a government medical college in Varanasi.

Sania, daughter of another family member Ghanshyam, secured admission in Mumbai. She had scored 63% in Class 10 and 89% in Class 12, with a NEET 2024 score of 360 and coaching averages between 341 and 361, later achieving a 94.07 percentile in NEET 2025.

Another relative, Palak, had higher academic performance, scoring 93% in Class 10 and 89% in Class 12, with 512 marks in NEET 2024 and coaching test scores between 515 and 550. She later secured a 98.61 percentile and admission to a government medical college in Jaipur.

While there were no official reports confirming a paper leak in NEET 2025, several social media claims had circulated. The National Testing Agency (NTA) and cyber agencies had dismissed these claims as false and misleading.

In a related investigation, the CBI has stated that the wider NEET paper leak case involved a network operating across states. According to investigators, intermediaries from Nashik and Pune were allegedly involved in sourcing and circulating exam papers. The agency claims the material eventually reached the Biwal family through contacts linked to the network.

Following raids at their residence, Mangilal, Dinesh Biwal, and Vikas were arrested and placed under seven-day custody. Officials also searched properties, including a farmhouse, and seized documents and vehicles suspected to be connected to the case.

The CBI is also searching for Rishi, another member of the family and a NEET aspirant, who is currently absconding.
