Gautam Adani Again Tops India's Richest List, Mukesh Ambani Ranks Second; Which City Has Most Rich People?
Gautam Adani and his family have regained the top position on the list of India's richest people. According to the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2026 , the Adani family's wealth has risen 13 percent to ₹9.23 lakh crore. Mukesh Ambani and his family, who had held the top spot for a long time, are now second with wealth of ₹8.63 lakh crore, down 10 percent.
The combined wealth of these individuals is nearly half of India's GDP. India now has 391 dollar billionaires, compared with 237 five years ago. In the last year alone, 27 new dollar billionaires were added.
LN Mittal and family of ArcelorMittal have moved to third place. Their wealth has jumped 93 percent to ₹3.39 lakh crore. Their wealth increased by ₹1.64 lakh crore in a year, the biggest increase among the names in the top 10.
Anil Agarwal and family of Vedanta Resources have climbed seven positions to rank ninth. Their wealth increased 87 percent to ₹2.08 lakh crore.
Sameer Mehta and family of Torrent Pharmaceuticals have entered the top 10 for the first time. Their wealth rose 52 percent to ₹1.89 lakh crore, placing them at number 10.
Artificial Intelligence has been included as a separate sector in the list. A total of 19 people associated with AI feature on the list, with combined wealth of ₹3.07 lakh crore. Of these, 15 are new names.
The list also includes 28-year-olds Tanay Kothari and Sahaj Garg of AI company Wispr Flow. Both have wealth of ₹4,200 crore each.
Mumbai leads with 465 wealthy individuals, followed by New Delhi with 236 and Bengaluru with 129. Mumbai alone is home to 93 dollar billionaires.
The average wealth of people on the list has also increased to ₹10,362 crore, compared with ₹9,874 crore last year. Their combined wealth has risen by an average of ₹5,833 crore every day.

The 2026 Hurun list includes 1,810 individuals with assets of at least ₹1,000 crore. Together, they have a wealth of ₹187.5 trillion, which is 12.8 percent higher than the previous year.The combined wealth of these individuals is nearly half of India's GDP. Technology has also made a new mark on the Hurun Rich List this year. Nagendra Nagaraja of Bengaluru-based QpiAi has become the first businessman to build a fortune through quantum computing.
