Originally hailing from Roorkee, Vinod had left his job at a private firm a few years ago, sustaining himself through income generated from farmland in his village. The couple, survived by their teenage son and daughter, embarked on the ill-fated journey around 10.30 pm on Monday, notifying family members that they were going for a drive. Concern arose when they failed to return home by 2 am, prompting a relative to alert the police.

Despite efforts to trace the couple, it was a passerby who brought the grim discovery to light around 7 am on Tuesday. The bodies lay near a deaddiction center in Madhuban Bapudham, with Vinod's phone revealing the SHO's number on the screen. Informing the family, the police initiated an autopsy on the bodies to shed light on the tragic incident.

The apparent motive behind this horrifying incident came to light during preliminary investigations. Abhishek Srivastava , ACP ( Kavi Nagar ), stated, "Preliminary investigation revealed that Vinod was having pain in his abdomen for the past five months and was diagnosed with a severe kidney infection." Vinod's battle with depression, known to his family for months, had even led him to contemplate suicide previously, attempting to jump into the Ganga canal.

Despite suggestions for psychiatric treatment, Vinod remained resistant. Alarming conversations with family members hinted at his intention to take drastic measures. A few weeks prior, he had asked a friend named Beenu for a gun, successfully obtaining one three days before the tragic incident. Beenu is now being sought by authorities.

The gruesome scene indicated that after being shot by her husband, Deepak attempted to flee, as her body was found at a distance from the car. "Vinod came out of the driving seat and shot himself. The gun lay near him," revealed ACP Srivastava . The investigation is ongoing, with autopsy reports pending. Authorities are exploring all angles, checking CCTV footage for additional clues, as they strive to comprehend the motive behind this devastating act.
