Gujarat Police Seizes ₹86.63 Lakh Worth of Liquor in Rajkot, Eight Arrested

Rajkot, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : Gujarat police's State Monitoring Cell (SMC) conducted a significant operation on Monday, seizing Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) and beer valued at ₹86.63 lakh near the Ahmedabad-Rajkot highway in Rajkot city. The total estimated value of the seized liquor, vehicles, and other materials amounts to ₹1.10 crore. Under the leadership of Police Inspector P.B.Jebaliya, the team executed the raid close to Radhe-Krishna Hotel in Bamanbhor village, within the jurisdiction of the Airport police station. The SMC reported that approximately 604 boxes containing 21,792 bottles of IMFL and beer were confiscated. In addition to the liquor, police seized a vehicle and other items, contributing to the total recovered value. This operation follows directives from Director General of Police (DGP) G.S. Malik, aimed at combating illegal liquor and gambling activities in the state.The police have registered a case under various sections of the Prohibition Act and the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 65( A)(E), 81, 83, 98(2), and 116(B), as well as Sections 336(2), 336(3), and 340(2) of the IPC 2023. Eight individuals have been implicated in this case. One suspect, identified as Dilip Singh Rawat from Sobiyana village in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district, has been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining seven suspects.Among the wanted individuals is Jitendra Singh Singh from Kalana, Rajsamand district, along with truck owner Suresh and an unidentified associate from Chandigarh. Authorities have also named an unknown individual who allegedly used a four-wheeler to load the liquor, another who arrived on a motorcycle with a transportation slip, and yet another unidentified person who reportedly placed the order for the liquor shipment in Rajkot. The SMC has stated that further investigations regarding the seized liquor and the wanted suspects are ongoing.
