Haryana’s ‘Operation Trackdown’ Nets 4,566 Arrests, 47 Notorious Criminals Held In A Day
Haryana Police’s ongoing state-wide crackdown against criminal activity has entered an extended phase after yielding strong results within the first two weeks of its launch. The initiative, known as Operation Trackdown, began on 5 November and has rapidly grown into one of the largest coordinated anti-crime drives in the state in recent years. With thousands of offenders already taken into custody and several high-profile arrests secured, police authorities say the campaign reflects a determined push to reinforce public safety and dismantle long-standing criminal networks.
Police officers involved in the mission describe the operation as “high-intensity”, involving simultaneous action across districts and enhanced coordination between local police units, crime branches, and special teams.
As part of efforts to enhance surveillance on repeat offenders, the police also opened 17 new history sheets, enabling local authorities to maintain closer monitoring of individuals with a record of persistent criminal activity.
Officials say the extensive documentation and tracking will support future preventive measures and contribute to long-term stabilisation of law-and-order conditions.
Investigations reveal that Sanjeev is associated with 11 criminal cases, while Sumit has 10 cases registered against him, including offences such as attempted murder, robbery, snatching, and violations under the Arms Act. Both individuals were considered active threats due to their involvement in frequent street-level crimes.
He had recently come under police scrutiny for allegedly firing at a youth near Sector-21 and issuing death threats. Officers had intensified search efforts in the area, leading to his arrest after sustained surveillance.
Officials believe that taking Goga into custody will significantly reduce violent incidents in the region, as he was regarded as a major figure influencing local criminal operations.
Authorities have indicated that the extended phase of the operation will continue to target wanted individuals, organised crime networks, and repeat offenders through intensified patrolling, intelligence-based raids and close inter-departmental collaboration.
The police have urged the public to remain cooperative and continue reporting suspicious activities promptly, adding that citizen assistance plays a crucial role in sustaining long-term safety measures.
