IMD Issues Heatwave Alert for North and Central India Till April 25
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for parts of northern and central India, including South Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Vidarbha, effective until April 25. These areas have been placed under a yellow alert due to rising temperatures.
Meanwhile, regions such as Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat are expected to experience hot and humid conditions throughout the same period.
In contrast, northeastern states like Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to receive heavy rainfall. The IMD also forecasts scattered to fairly widespread moderate rain over Kerala and Mahe today. Additionally, isolated to scattered rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is anticipated across other parts of southern peninsular India.
A cyclonic circulation associated with a Western Disturbance has been observed over West Iran and surrounding areas in the middle and upper tropospheric levels. This system is expected to bring thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and isolated hailstorms to parts of Uttarakhand today.
