India's Green Hydrogen Mission Gains Global Attention with TNO Insights

New Delhi, September 25 (Daily Kiran) : India's National Green Hydrogen Mission is starting to capture global attention. Rajesh Mehta, a senior advisor and representative of TNO, a leading applied research organization from the Netherlands, emphasized that India has the potential to become a global hub for both green hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives.Mehta noted that the mission has been meticulously crafted, covering everything from policy frameworks to value chains and refinery tenders. This comprehensive approach has provided valuable insights and experiences for international stakeholders. Representing TNO, Mehta remarked, “We are a major research institution in Europe focusing on the power-to-X domain and green hydrogen. From India's perspective, there is much to learn, and the pace of learning is quite rapid, especially in the power-to-X sector.” He further highlighted the scaling up of technologies such as PEM, alkaline, and solid oxide, presenting a significant opportunity for India to not only lead in hydrogen production but also in hydrogen derivatives.This initiative could pave the way for solutions and export opportunities within the industry. Mehta described the experience as enlightening, noting how the National Green Hydrogen Mission has been strategically implemented. The policy has driven the entire value chain and industrial sectors, generating considerable enthusiasm and tangible actions among industrial players. He pointed out that export opportunities are a key focus for India. The country is forming partnerships with external stakeholders, including Japan and Germany, which is exciting for research organizations like TNO.Mehta concluded by stating that technology scaling is playing a crucial role in this venture.
