IndiGo Staff Deny Sanitary Pad To Bleeding Girl Amid Flight Chaos, Sparks Outrage
A shocking incident at an airport has gone viral amid IndiGo flight disruptions , drawing widespread outrage on social media. A father’s repeated pleas for a sanitary pad for his bleeding daughter were reportedly ignored by airline staff, highlighting a lack of basic support during a medical emergency.
The man can be heard in a video pleading with the staff:
"My daughter is bleeding, sister, please give us a pad."
To his dismay, the staff responded:
"We cannot provide pads."
Social Media Backlash
The incident sparked strong criticism online. One user suggested:
"Sanitary pad ATMs must be installed in schools, railway stations, airports, and malls."
Another commented:
"This is heartbreaking and unacceptable. Access to basic hygiene like sanitary pads is a matter of dignity, not a luxury."
IndiGo’s Operational Crisis
The incident comes at a time when IndiGo Airlines has been experiencing nationwide flight disruptions, with over 500 flights cancelled across Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru in just three days. The chaos stems primarily from the new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) issued by the DGCA, which increased pilots’ mandatory rest hours, restricted night operations, and limited night landings.
Although the DGCA has since rolled back the FDTL rules, IndiGo’s operations are still recovering. Officials warn that full stabilisation will take time.
Other contributing factors include technical issues, winter schedule pressures, adverse weather, and heavy airport congestion. With IndiGo operating more than 2,200 flights daily, even minor disruptions can quickly ripple across the network, resulting in widespread cancellations and delays nationwide.
The incident has renewed calls for airlines and airports to provide basic hygiene facilities, ensuring that passengers are not left without essential care during emergencies.
