Jammu & Kashmir: Landmine found along LoC in Poonch, destroyed
JAMMU: An Army patrolling team detected a stray, old landmine along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district on Thursday, which was later destroyed.
Officials said the landmine was found in Balakote, Mendhar sector, following which Army personnel immediately secured the vicinity. The bomb disposal squad was informed, and a team arrived at the spot and neutralised the explosive through a controlled mechanism.

Earlier, two landmines detected along the LoC at Basooni Top in Mendhar sector were destroyed on Oct 5.
Forward areas along the LoC are dotted with landmines as part of the anti-infiltration grid. These explosives are sometimes washed away and displaced during heavy rain, leading to accidents involving patrolling soldiers, border residents, and livestock.
