Jharkhand Leaders Pay Tribute to Gandhi and Shastri on Their Birth Anniversaries
Ranchi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : On October 2, 2026, various events took place across Jharkhand to commemorate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. In Ranchi, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Union Minister of State for Defence and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, along with Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, gathered at Bapu Vatika in Morhabadi to pay floral tributes at Gandhi's statue.
During the ceremony, Governor Gangwar honored both leaders by laying garlands at their portraits at Lok Bhawan. He remarked that Gandhi, through his commitment to truth and non-violence, provided humanity with a new direction. His ideals continue to inspire people to pursue honesty, peace, harmony, and social service. While paying homage to Shastri, Governor Gangwar highlighted his life of simplicity, humility, and dedication to duty as a shining example of public service.He noted that Shastri's commitment to the nation and his rallying cry of "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan" will always inspire citizens. Chief Minister Hemant Soren also paid tribute to Gandhi, stating that Bapu illuminated the path to freedom through truth and non-violence, while conveying messages of humanity, peace, and coexistence to the world. He emphasized that during times of societal division, Gandhi's teachings on truth, non-violence, courage, harmony, and the welfare of all become increasingly relevant.Gandhi envisioned a nation where development reaches the last person, the poor and marginalized are respected, villages are empowered, and a balance with nature is maintained. CM Soren further honored Shastri, expressing that his simple lifestyle, strong leadership, integrity, and dedication to the country will always serve as an inspiration for all. "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan" remains a call that continues to motivate the populace. Numerous representatives, officials, and a large number of citizens also paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi during the observance.
