LPG Cylinders Now Available For ₹450 In This State: Here's How To Benefit
Starting September 1, families in Rajasthan covered under the National Food Security Act ( NFSA ) can purchase domestic LPG cylinders at a subsidized rate of ₹450. This initiative, launched by the state government, aims to benefit approximately 68 lakh families, significantly reducing their kitchen expenses.
The subsidy will be credited directly into the beneficiaries' bank accounts. To avail of the benefit, consumers will initially pay the full price of the cylinder, currently set at ₹806.50, and the government will reimburse the difference, effectively lowering the cost to ₹450 per cylinder. This scheme allows each eligible family to receive up to 12 cylinders annually, ensuring a monthly supply at the subsidized rate.
This initiative is particularly significant for women who manage household kitchens, as it eases the financial burden associated with rising fuel costs. The Rajasthan government has issued guidelines for the smooth implementation of the scheme, which has been expanded to include 68 lakh new families under the NFSA, in addition to the existing BPL and Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced the scheme during the state budget presentation, emphasizing its role in supporting economically weaker sections and further strengthening Rajasthan’s social security measures. While this decision will add an estimated ₹200 crore burden to the state’s financial resources, it provides crucial relief to over 1 crore NFSA families, including those already benefiting from BPL and Ujjwala Yojana subsidies.
