Major Crackdown on Illegal Liquor Production in Bhopal

Bhopal, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : Authorities in Bhopal have intensified their efforts against illegal liquor production following a recent toxic alcohol incident in Sagar district. A significant operation led to the seizure of equipment used for distilling alcohol, along with revealing the methods employed in the illegal trade. Police and excise teams conducted a raid in Taravali village, where illicit liquor operations were reportedly thriving in the dense forest area.Upon their arrival, chaos ensued as individuals attempted to flee. The raiding party confiscated 12 distilleries, two boilers, and numerous drums, some of which contained alcohol while others were empty. During the operation, over 200 liters of raw alcohol and a substantial quantity of lahan, a substance used in liquor production, were discovered. The team also found that the illicit liquor was being packaged in plastic pouches and sold for as little as 10 to 20 rupees.Illegal liquor production has been rampant in various parts of the state, often leading to tragic outcomes. The recent toxic alcohol incident in Bunda, Sagar district, claimed several lives, prompting Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to take action against several officials and to direct a crackdown on illegal liquor activities.
