While the vehicle was passing through the Narakasur Pahar area, Goswami allegedly attacked the police personnel and suddenly jumped out of the moving vehicle.

He fell into a deep gorge and sustained serious injuries. Police immediately rescued him and rushed him to a hospital, where doctors examined him and declared him dead.

On September 3, Goswami allegedly brutally murdered his wife, Riya Talukdar (25). He then reportedly beheaded her and wrapped her severed head and fingers in a black polythene bag before placing them inside a refrigerator.

The gruesome crime came to light after neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from the apartment. Police subsequently inspected the premises and discovered the remains.

Goswami surrendered to the police on September 6. During a crime-scene inspection conducted on September 8, he reportedly showed no remorse over the murder. Police also said that he had threatened to kill a man whom he suspected of being in a relationship with his wife if he was released from jail.

Police also seized a blood-stained machete suspected to have been used in the murder. Goswami reportedly told investigators that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Empty liquor bottles were also found inside the flat.

Police are continuing their investigation into Goswami's death.
