Recently, the Delhi government announced a significant update: the annual income limit for ration card eligibility has been increased from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.20 lakh. New Conditions for Ration Cardholders

To obtain a ration card in Delhi, applicants must meet certain conditions. They should be permanent or current residents of the city, and no other ration card should exist in the family’s name. Additionally, all family members must have an Aadhaar card. The type of ration card issued depends on income level and social status.

Types of Ration Cards

Delhi primarily issues three types of ration cards:

• Antyodaya Anna Yojana Card for extremely poor families
• Priority Household Card for families within the specified income limit
• Non-Priority Ration Card for families with higher incomes

Required Documents

Applicants need to provide essential documents, including Aadhaar cards for all family members, proof of residence such as an electricity or water bill, a rent agreement, passport-size photographs, mobile number, and bank account details if applicable.

How to Apply

For online applications, visit the Delhi Food and Supply Department website at nfs.delhi.gov.in. Navigate to the Citizens’ Corner and select Apply Online for Food Security. Enter your mobile number and log in or register using the OTP. After submitting the form, you will receive an application number to track your application status.

Those unable to apply online can also apply offline by visiting their nearest Circle Office or Fair Price Shop. After submission, the department verifies the documents, and field verification may be conducted if necessary. Once approved, the ration card is issued and can be downloaded online.
