Writer-Lyricist Prasoon Joshi Appointed As chairman Of Prasar Bharati

Noted lyricist, writer and communication expert Prasar Bharati has appointed Prasoon Joshi as its new Chairman. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the decision on Saturday, marking a significant leadership change for India’s public service broadcaster.

Joshi is widely recognised for his creative contributions across films, advertising and public communication campaigns.

Prasoon Joshi is known for his powerful lyrics, impactful storytelling and deep connection with Indian culture. Over the years, he has contributed to some of the most popular Bollywood songs and national campaigns that reflect social values and emotions.

Government’s Welcome To The Appointment

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw congratulated Joshi on his appointment and praised his creative journey. He highlighted Joshi’s deep cultural understanding and global recognition in literature, advertising and cinema.

Vaishnaw said that Joshi’s leadership is expected to bring renewed creativity and stronger purpose to Prasar Bharati, helping the organisation evolve further in the digital era.

Prasoon Joshi’s Professional Journey

Before this appointment, Joshi served as the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) since 2017. During his tenure, he played a key role in film certification and industry coordination.

He has also held senior leadership positions in advertising, including CEO of McCann World Group India and Chairman of McCann World Group Asia Pacific. Additionally, he is associated with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts as a trustee.
