Rajasthan Local Body Elections: Deputy Mayor and Chairperson Positions Up for Grabs

Jaipur, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : The political landscape in Rajasthan is shifting as elections for Deputy Mayor, Deputy Chairperson, and Vice-Chairperson positions are underway across the state. Following the completion of mayoral and chairperson elections, attention has turned to these key roles in urban local bodies. On Tuesday, elections are being held in 309 urban bodies, including 10 municipal corporations.This includes 51 municipal councils and 248 town councils. The elected councilors from these bodies will participate in the voting process. In cases where necessary, votes will be counted, and results will be declared. In the municipal corporations, Deputy Mayors will be elected, while Deputy Chairpersons will be chosen in municipal councils, and Vice-Chairpersons in town councils. The dynamics among local councilors could significantly influence the outcomes, especially in areas where no party has secured a clear majority.Independent councilors may also play a crucial role in tightly contested races. The counting of votes will commence after polling concludes, and results will be announced according to the election schedule. The election for the Deputy Mayor of Alwar Municipal Corporation is taking place today, with both the BJP and Congress finalizing their strategies late Monday night. Following the mayoral elections, councilors from both parties remained in their respective camps, expected to head to the municipal corporation for the Deputy Mayor vote. The BJP, having won the mayoral seat, is now aiming to secure the Deputy Mayor position as well.Political activity has intensified in the municipal corporation as the election approaches. The process for the Deputy Mayor election in Udaipur Municipal Corporation is also set to begin on Tuesday. Discussions among BJP leaders regarding their candidate continued late into Monday night. Reports suggest that Dinesh Bhatt's name is under consideration, but no official announcement has been made yet. The nomination process will kick off at 10 AM on Tuesday, followed by the remaining stages of the election process.As the voting day unfolds, political maneuvering has escalated within the municipal corporation. Elections for Deputy Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson positions are also being held today in five urban local bodies in Karauli district. The Karauli Municipal Council will elect a Deputy Chairperson, while the municipalities of Todabhim, Sapotra, Mandrayal, and Suroth will elect Vice-Chairpersons. The nomination process will be completed first, with voting to follow if necessary.Elected councilors will cast their votes to select the Deputy Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson. With the chairperson elections concluded, political activity is now focused on these deputy positions.
