Good news for ration card holders! The government has extended the ration distribution date for January 2026. Eligible beneficiaries can now collect their food grains until January 30, 2026, according to Chitrakoot District Supply Officer, Kamal Nayan Singh.
This move ensures that no family misses out on essential food supplies under the National Food Security Act ( NFSA ), 2013. The extension is aimed at reaching every eligible household on time and maintaining smooth distribution across the district.
All fair price shops in the district are distributing food grains via e-POS machines. Aadhaar-based verification is mandatory for transparency.
For beneficiaries facing technical issues with thumb impression verification, a mobile OTP facility has been introduced. This will also remain in effect until January 30, 2026, allowing everyone to claim their rations without hassle.
Portability Facility Helps Migrant Workers
The extended period also benefits migrant cardholders. With the portability facility, beneficiaries can collect food grains from any other shop in the district or state, not just their registered shop. This ensures migrant workers and temporarily relocated families don’t face difficulties in accessing their ration.
Transparency and Hygiene Measures
The district administration has instructed all fair price shop owners to conduct ration distribution with full transparency. Strict action will be taken against any irregularities.
Additionally, hygiene standards must be followed, ensuring safe collection of rations, especially during these times when health precautions are crucial.

Beneficiaries are advised to collect their rations from the nearest fair price shop within the extended period.
