Sahara Refund Update: ₹9,267 Crore Returned, Know How to Claim Your Money

If your money is stuck in one of Sahara Group's cooperative societies, you can now apply for a refund online instead of waiting for updates through offline channels. The CRCS Sahara Refund Portal allows eligible depositors to submit their claims and track the progress of applications already filed.

The Ministry of Cooperation has reported that ₹9,267 crore was returned to eligible depositors as of September 8, 2026. The process of examining pending applications and releasing eligible refunds has also resumed through the portal.

However, not every Sahara investor is covered under this facility. Depositors must meet the eligibility requirements and provide the necessary documents to have their claims verified.

Which Sahara Depositors Can Apply?

The refund facility covers depositors of four cooperative societies associated with the Sahara Group:

  • Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Limited
  • Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Limited
  • Hamara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited
  • Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited
If you have deposited money in any of these societies, you can submit a refund application through the official portal. The claim will be examined, and the refund will be processed if it meets the prescribed verification requirements.

Documents Required for a Sahara Refund

Before starting the application, keep the necessary documents and account details ready. These include:

  • Aadhaar card
  • Mobile number linked to Aadhaar
  • Aadhaar-linked bank account
  • Deposit receipts
  • Society passbook
  • Membership number and deposit account details
Make sure your personal information, bank details and deposit records are accurate. Any mismatch could affect the verification process.

How to Apply Through the Sahara Refund Portal

Eligible depositors can follow these steps to submit their claims online:

  1. Visit the official CRCS Sahara Refund Portal.
  2. Enter the required details and complete the verification process.
  3. Provide your membership number and details of the deposited amount.
  4. Upload the required documents, including deposit receipts and passbook details.
  5. Review the application carefully to ensure all information is correct.
  6. Submit the application and save the acknowledgement or receipt for future reference.
Once submitted, the application will go through verification. Depositors whose claims meet the requirements will receive their eligible refund through the prescribed process.

Already Applied? Check Your Refund Status

If you have submitted a claim earlier, there is no need to immediately file another application. First, check the status of your existing claim on the portal.

If your application contains errors or missing information, you can make the necessary corrections through the official resubmission portal: mocresubmit.crcs.gov.in.

Keep your application acknowledgement and deposit-related documents handy while checking or updating your details.

The most important thing for depositors is to ensure that their claims are complete and accurate. Checking an existing application and correcting discrepancies, where required, can help avoid unnecessary delays in the verification process.
