The businessman died on October 9, after falling from the fourth floor of an apartment building in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. His mother, Ranjana Sharma, has accused his influencer girlfriend and several others of involvement in his death. The police have registered a murder case, while the situation still remains under investigation.

According to reports, one of the call recordings between the two captures an argument over Sharma allegedly taking too long to bring cigarettes to Dubey's residence. In the conversation, Dubey accused Sharma of stealing and claimed that he had locked her inside the house before leaving. Sharma had denied the allegations, saying he had been with his friends.

In the recording, allegedly, Dubey is heard saying, "The more you irritate me, the more I will keep spreading it. You played with me. You are depressing me; you are hurting my ego. You locked me and ran away. I will complain to the police. Everyone knows that you have locked me and run away."

Sharma responded, "I didn't lock you and run away...I met my friends here. We were talking and smoking a cigarette."

Another one of the recordings reportedly captures the couple’s disagreement over a party. During it, Dubey had allegedly warned Sharma about the consequences of attending the party, saying that, "You want to go to a party...You will party in jail. You are triggering me."

The recordings have emerged as the investigators now examine the couple's relationship and the events that lead up to Sharma's death. However, it is to be noted that the conversations alone do not establish what happened at the apartment, or who was responsible for his fall.

The deceased’s mother has alleged that Dubey had threatened to circulate obscene videos of her son and damage his reputation. She has also claimed that Sharma experienced physical violence during their relationship.

The first information report (FIR) names Dubey, her sister Rashmi Dubey, a driver identified as Danish, an associate named Adil and other unidentified individuals as the accused. According to an October 14 report, Dubey and her sister had not been traced at the time of publication. Another report said that the police had announced a reward of ₹25,000 each for information related to the Dubey sisters.

An additional report stated that Sharma's post-mortem recorded multiple external injuries, internal injuries to both lungs, damage to his liver and spleen, and more substantial internal bleeding. His death was said to be caused by shock and haemorrhage resulting from the injuries. However, these medical findings do not establish whether he was pushed, fell accidentally or jumped.

These recordings have added another dimension to the investigation into the case. The police are examining the available evidence to establish the apparent sequence of events that led to the death and find whether anyone was responsible for it. It should be noted that until the legal proceedings establish the facts, the allegations against the named individuals must be treated as allegations, rather than proven guilt.
