Six Arrested for Harassment of Woman at Kolkata Multiplex

Kolkata, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : Kolkata police have arrested six individuals in connection with the harassment of a woman at a multiplex in the Kasba area. The incident occurred on Sunday evening when the woman, a doctor residing in the Banshdroni area, attended a film screening at the Acropolis Mall with her husband and friends. According to the woman’s complaint, she was continuously harassed by the six accused during the movie.They allegedly made lewd and sexually suggestive comments. When she protested, they reportedly assaulted her. The multiplex staff intervened and promptly notified the Kasba police. Officers arrived quickly, but the accused began arguing with them and behaved rudely towards other patrons in the hall. The police took the six suspects into custody after identifying them through their identification documents. The individuals have been named as Anand Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Arvind Kumar, Srijan Darbar, Manoj Roy, and Arindam Ghosh.During questioning, one of the suspects, Srijan, claimed to be a student at Jadavpur University and allegedly threatened police with severe consequences if he were arrested. Despite this, all six were taken into custody. A senior police officer confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections based on the woman’s complaint. The investigation is ongoing.
