In a repeat occurrence, strong tremors rattled Delhi and its neighboring cities on Monday afternoon, as Nepal experienced its second earthquake in just three days, measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale.
The National Centre for Seismology confirmed that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 233 kilometers north of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, sending shockwaves throughout the region.
The seismic activity sent shockwaves of panic across the affected areas, with residents in Delhi and the National Capital Region reporting significant shaking of desks and furniture.
Just last Friday, Nepal endured a devastating 6.4 magnitude earthquake. Nepal, nestled within one of the most active tectonic zones in the world, remains highly susceptible to seismic events. This vulnerability was starkly illustrated by the events on Friday night, where a powerful earthquake, described as the worst since 2015, struck remote regions in western Nepal, leaving a trail of destruction. The temblor claimed the lives of at least 157 people, and over 150 others sustained injuries, as hundreds of homes were reduced to rubble in the Himalayan nation.
