Two More Arrested in Fake Currency Case Linked to Saharanpur PNB Chest

Saharanpur, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two additional suspects in the case involving the recovery of 17.29 crore rupees in counterfeit currency from the Punjab National Bank (PNB) currency chest in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mukesh Kumar and Rajendra Kumar.According to the NIA, both suspects are close associates of the primary accused, Aadesh Chaudhary, who was arrested earlier. The agency alleges that Mukesh and Rajendra were involved in a conspiracy to circulate counterfeit notes through the PNB currency chest located in Saharanpur's Civil Lines area. The investigation into the matter is ongoing. The issue first came to light on August 29, 2026, when local police received a tip-off leading to the seizure of fake Indian currency notes valued at 17.29 crore rupees from the PNB currency chest.Initial investigations revealed the involvement of three bank employees, resulting in their suspension. An FIR was initially registered at the Saharanpur Sadar Bazaar police station on August 29, 2026, naming three individuals as accused. The case was later handed over to the NIA, which re-registered it on September 3, 2026. During the investigation, Amit Kumar was arrested on September 7, 2026, followed by the arrest of Aadesh Chaudhary on September 15. With the recent arrests of Mukesh Kumar and Rajendra Kumar, the NIA is probing the roles of other suspects and co-accused in the case.The NIA continues its investigation to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and locate any remaining suspects involved.
