V. D. Satheesan Takes Charge as Kerala’s New Chief Minister
Kerala is witnessing a new chapter in its political world as senior Congress leader V.D. Satheesan will take oath as Kerala’s new Chief Minister on Monday. Before becoming Chief Minister, he served as the Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, where he gained attention for his vocal criticism of policy failures and his demand for transparency in administration.
The Congress party’s comeback in Kerala was driven largely by anti-incumbency sentiments, unemployment concerns and public dissatisfaction over several administrative controversies.
