Vijay's entry into politics has turned the Tamil Nadu elections into a three-way fight. The state's politics have been dominated by DMK and AIADMK till now. Vijay is contesting all 234 seats on its own with Perambur and Tiruchirapalli East as the key test cases for its political debut.

Furthermore, 15 TVK candidates are leading in early trends. Among them are G Ramamoorthi from Tiruchirapalli West, Senthil Kumar N from Srivaikuntam, Saravanan G from Thiruvottiyur, and Sathish Christopher from Radhapuram.

2021 Election Results in Tamil Nadu

In the 2021 Assembly elections, both constituencies now contested by TVK were won by the DMK-led alliance. DMK's RD Sakar's victory in Perambur continued the seat's trend of favouring the major Dravidian parties. Similarly, in Tiruchirappalli East, DMK's Indigo Irudayaraj secured the seat with strong backing by local voters.

Historically, Perambur has seen power alternate between the DMK, AIADMK, and Left parties, while Tiruchirappalli East has also remained a key contest between the two major Dravidian parties. Vijay’s decision to contest independently marks a first, with a cinema-backed new party trying to turn the state’s usual two-way contest into a trio fight without the support of a major alliance.
