₹3,000 for ASHA workers, ₹1,000 for Anganwadi staff, and free bus rides for women announced by this state government.
Honorarium Hike: Following the results of the assembly elections held in five states, newly formed governments across the country are now presenting new benefits to their respective states. Continuing this trend, on May 18—today—the newly formed government in Kerala, led by V.D. Satheesan, announced an honorarium hike for the state's ASHA workers. This announcement has generated a palpable sense of joy among these workers.
The Kerala Government's Gifts
In fact, V.D. Satheesan took the oath as the Chief Minister of Kerala today, immediately after which the first cabinet meeting was convened. During this meeting, a decision was taken to grant an honorarium hike to ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and primary teachers. The government shared this information via a tweet posted on the Congress party's official X (formerly Twitter) handle. Sharing the post, they wrote: "A gift for the people of Kerala." Subsequently, the government outlined a list of the two key promises it has fulfilled.
What Did the Employees Receive?
Through this post, the government detailed the extent of the honorarium hike and the specific benefits provided to primary teachers, ASHA workers, and women.
Women will be allowed to travel free of cost on KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation) buses.
A decision has been taken to increase the honorarium for ASHA workers by ₹3,000.
A dedicated ministry will be established specifically for senior citizens.
All these decisions were taken by the government during the cabinet meeting. The post concludes with the statement: "We deliver on our promises. We are Congress." View the post here:
It is worth noting that, just as government employees receive a Dearness Allowance (DA), ASHA workers, health workers, and Anganwadi workers receive an honorarium allowance. This allowance is implemented by the governments of Kerala and Uttar Pradesh.
