EPFO WhatsApp Services Launched: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a major convenience for its millions of members. PF account holders no longer need to visit the official EPFO portal or make repeated trips to access their passbooks, check their balances, or view transaction details. On November 1, 2026—coinciding with the EPFO’s Foundation Day—Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, officially launched the EPFO’s WhatsApp services.

The objective of this new initiative is to make digital services even more accessible and user-friendly for members.

Send 'Hi' to this number: How can you avail of the service?

EPFO members can easily utilize this facility via their mobile phones by following a few simple steps:

Save the number: First, save the official EPFO WhatsApp number, +91 8796441800, on your mobile phone.

Send a message: Open WhatsApp and send the word "Hi" to the saved number.

Select an option: Follow the instructions provided in the chat and choose the service you require.

Access via QR code: Members can also enter the WhatsApp chat directly by scanning the official QR code issued by the EPFO.

Important security advice: Account holders should only use the official number issued by the EPFO (+91 8796441800). Never share your bank details, passwords, or OTPs (One-Time Passwords) with any unauthorized individuals.

Three key services available on WhatsApp

Through this new WhatsApp facility, members can primarily access three services:

Checking EPF balance: Members can instantly view their PF account balance without the need to repeatedly log in to the portal. Viewing the last 5 transactions: Members can instantly access full details of the last 5 transactions made in their accounts.

Downloading the EPF passbook: The PF passbook can be downloaded directly via WhatsApp, making it easy to check complete details of contributions.

Can claims and withdrawals also be processed via WhatsApp?

Employees should note that the WhatsApp service is currently limited to basic account details and information such as the passbook. For claim settlements, PF withdrawals, or any updates to their profile, members must continue to use the official EPFO portal or the Umang app, as they have done previously.
