Asked for money to get an Ayushman Card made? Here's where to complain

If you are planning to get an Ayushman Card made, keep one thing in mind: if you receive a call regarding the card and the caller asks for money, do not trust them at all.

Amid rising health concerns, many people are opting for health insurance to ensure proper medical treatment when needed and to avoid any obstacles caused by financial constraints. However, purchasing health insurance is not feasible for everyone. To address this, the government runs several important schemes, one of which is the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). If you are considering getting an Ayushman Card, do not fall prey to fraudulent agents.

PMJAY-UP has advised the public via its official social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), to beware of fake agents. The post explicitly warns against falling for scams involving Ayushman Card issuance and advises people not to pay a single rupee to anyone for this purpose. It also cautions the public to be wary of fraudulent agencies.

Where to get your Ayushman Card made

If you wish to get an Ayushman Card, use only official channels. You can apply for the card through the website beneficiary.nha.gov.in or the Ayushman App. Please note that obtaining an Ayushman Card is completely free of charge.

Beware of fake messages and calls

If you receive a call or message regarding the Ayushman Card where the caller asks for money or requests your personal information, exercise immediate caution. Do not make any payments or share your personal details.

Medical treatment coverage of up to ₹5 lakh

Under PM-JAY, eligible families are provided with cashless and paperless medical treatment coverage of up to ₹5 lakh. This scheme benefits needy, eligible poor, and economically weaker families.

File a complaint in case of fraud

If someone asks you for money to create an Ayushman card or if you are subjected to any kind of fraud, you can immediately lodge a complaint with the National Health Authority (NHA) by calling the toll-free number 1800-1800-4444.
