Chandan Anand opens up about his evolving craft in Hastinapur Ke Veer; says 'Every character teaches you something different about acting'
Hastinapur Ke Veer brings alive the formative years of the Pandavas and Kauravas. It also explores the relationships and experiences that shape their personalities. Characters like Shakuni ( Chandan Anand ) who adds to the intrigue of this journey with his intelligence, sharp observations and ability to influence people around him makes him one of the most layered characters in the story. Chandan has always explored different shades of human behaviour through his work and has played complex characters in projects. Each role has helped him to grow as an actor and playing Shakuni has given him another chance to explore the finer details of characterisation.

Chandan is exploring new facets of Shakuni as he is spending more time in the character. Shakuni is more a people person than a clever strategist. He watches people, knows their vulnerabilities and uses conversation to influence their thinking. His shifting tone when talking to different characters, his unique body language, each detail adds another dimension to his portrayal. It has been a process for Chandan that has reinforced how an actor’s understanding of a character can grow with time, how even familiar traits can throw something new.
Talking about his experience Chandan Anand shared, “Over the years, I have realised that every character teaches you something different about the craft of acting . With roles that are intense or complex, you learn to look beyond what is immediately visible and understand what drives a person’s choices. I have learnt that sometimes the smallest details can tell the audience more about a character than a big dramatic moment. I keep exploring these nuances because I want Shakuni to feel like a person with his own way of thinking, rather than just someone known for his clever plans. That continuous process of discovery is what keeps me excited as an actor.”
