Dhanush Praises Sonam Kapoor as His Best Co-Star Over Sara Ali Khan

Mumbai, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan recently appeared on the talk show "Koffee with Karan" to promote their film "Atrangi Re." During the episode, host Karan Johar posed a question to Dhanush about who he preferred to work with in Bollywood: Sara Ali Khan or Sonam Kapoor. Without hesitation, Dhanush named Sonam. Sara responded playfully, “Wow, that's not offensive at all.” Dhanush explained that Sonam holds a special place in his heart as she was his first co-star in Bollywood.He credited her with making him feel comfortable in a new environment. "I don't want to downplay Sara's kindness, sweetness, and fun on the set of 'Atrangi Re', but Sonam is very special to me. She was my first co-star in Hindi films, and coming here from the South, she made me feel at ease and was very kind to me. I am really grateful for that," Dhanush said. While discussing "Atrangi Re," Dhanush admitted he was initially concerned about whether Sara could portray the character Rinku effectively."To be honest, I was a bit worried. It's a huge role and a very challenging character. I asked Anand ji (Anand L. Rai), ‘How many films has she done?’ He told me she had done 2 or 3 films by then. I was thinking, ‘Can she pull this off?’” Directed by Anand L. Rai, "Atrangi Re" also stars Akshay Kumar alongside Dhanush and Sara. The film was released on December 24, 2021, on Disney+ Hotstar. This film marks Dhanush's second collaboration with director Anand L. Rai, following their successful project "Raanjhanaa." The duo also worked together in "Tere Ishq Mein," featuring Kriti Sanon, which was released in 2025.The story of "Atrangi Re" was penned by Himanshu Sharma and produced by T-Series Films, Color Yellow Productions, and Cape of Good Films.
