EPFO New Update: UAN will no longer be activated on the portal; these services have shifted to the UMANG app—what is the complete process?

Newspoint

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made significant changes to the features available on its Unified Member Portal. Following a system update in June, the facility to activate the Universal Account Number (UAN) has been removed from the EPFO portal.

Members must now use the government's UMANG app to activate their UAN. The good news is that you can easily activate your UAN on the UMANG app using Aadhaar-based Face Authentication (FAT).

However, essential services such as UAN generation, application status checks, and death claims continue to function on the EPFO portal just as before.

What is the UMANG app, and what services are available there now?
