Eurovision 2026 continues to claim the internet with headlines that remain the least expected. As the musical competition kicked off in Vienna, certainly Australia made a guest appearance to give a nod to the iconic Austria-Australia confusion.

Go-Jo, the Australian singer whose song Milkshake Man was an entry in 2025, joined the hosts on the stage. Entering with Austrian presenters Victoria Swarovski and Michael Ostrowski, the singer said, “I was actually supposed to go home to Australia, but instead I landed in Austria because some idiot confused Australia with Austria,” according to ABC.

When in Eurovision, do what international contestants do! When Swarovski asked about the differences between the nations, the trio started performing the song, showcasing their polar-opposite cultures. Titled ‘Opposites,’ they sang, “Spiders, snakes and shark attacks. Australia would kill me,” before adding, “Your desserts, they cause heart attacks, and winter sports don't thrill me.” Calling for a response from the enthusiastic crowd, the kangaroo mascot joined the trio on the stage as the music continued, “I say kanga, you say roo!” Meanwhile, Australia will participate in the second semi-final of Eurovision on Thursday, May 14, 2026, with Delta Goodrem's Eclipse.
