Introduction to the Hanuman Temples

On the journey from Abu Road to Mount Abu, the first temple that pilgrims encounter is the Arna Hanuman Temple, also known as Baleshwar Hanuman Temple. Nestled in Arna village, this temple serves as a significant spiritual stop for those heading to Mount Abu. Many travelers pause here to seek the blessings of Bajrangbali (Hanuman) for a safe journey. A common practice among devotees is to offer jaggery and chickpeas (*gur-chana*) at the temple, as they believe that Hanuman's blessings will ensure a smooth trip without any hindrances.

Champeshwar Hanuman Temple

Located in Sani village near Mount Abu, the Champeshwar Hanuman Temple is a revered site for both locals and visitors from nearby areas. Surrounded by lush greenery, the idol here is believed to be *swayambhu* (self-manifested). Local legends suggest that the idol was discovered long ago among *champa* trees and caves, marking the beginning of worship at this sacred location.

Gyan Gufa and Gyaneshwar Hanuman Temple

In the Delwara region of Mount Abu, the Gyan Gufa (Knowledge Cave) and Gyaneshwar Hanuman Temple stand out due to their impressive idol and architectural design. The main highlight is a towering 21-foot idol of Hanuman, depicted with *manjire* (cymbals) in a pose of devotion to Lord Rama. Devotees believe this temple was founded in 1965.

The Gyan Gufa complex features marble shrines and idols of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman, along with intricately carved elephants at the entrance, showcasing remarkable craftsmanship. It is said that ancient sages and ascetics once performed penance and spiritual practices within the Gyan Gufa.

Vanvasi Hanuman Temple

The Vanvasi Hanuman Temple, situated in the Gaumukh area of Mount Abu, is regarded as the starting point for pilgrims heading to the Maharshi Vashistha Ashram and Gaumukh Kund. Visitors typically offer prayers here before ascending the stairs that lead to Gaumukh Temple. This temple is known as 'Vanvasi Hanuman Temple' (Hanuman Temple of the Forest) due to its location amidst a dense forest.

Hanuman Tekri Temple

In addition to the four prominent Hanuman temples in Mount Abu, another notable temple is the Hanuman Tekri Temple, located on a hill at the foothills in the Abu Road area. Often referred to as 'Tekri Wale Hanuman Temple,' it attracts devotees traveling from Gujarat who stop here before continuing their journey to Mount Abu. It is believed that those who fast for five consecutive Tuesdays and pray at this temple will have their wishes granted.
