FEFSI urges producers to rethink shutdown; 'Strike will have serious impact on industry'
With the Tamil film industry heading for a fresh standoff between the producers and the theatre owners and distributors come September 1 onwards, the Federation of South Indian Film Employees ( FEFSI ) has proposed that the issue be resolved before it affects film workers.

The Tamil Film Producers Council ( TFPC ) and the Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA) recently announced a halt to new theatrical releases, film shootings and post-production work from September 1, 2026. The move is against the Tamil Nadu Film Distributors Federation and the Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners Association’s decision to screen films only if producers agree to an eight-week gap between their theatrical and OTT releases.
