Ganpati Visarjan: Metro to Run All Night; No Worries About Traffic Jams or Parking

To facilitate devotees during the Ganpati Visarjan, Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) has decided to operate services throughout the night, sparing people the hassle of traffic and parking issues.

A massive turnout of devotees is expected in Mumbai for the Ganesh Visarjan. In light of this, Mumbai Metro Line 3 has made special arrangements for passenger convenience. On the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi, Aqua Line metro services will run all night so that people do not face difficulties returning home late.

Typically, Mumbai's roads witness heavy crowds and traffic congestion during Ganpati Visarjan. To ensure people do not face travel issues on the roads, transport services have been augmented. Additionally, Central Railway and Western Railway have decided to run several extra local trains late into the night. The primary benefit is that devotees will be able to travel using the metro and local trains late at night.

Which routes will have late-night trains?

Mumbai Metro Line 3 announced via a post on the social media platform X that metro services on the Aqua Line would operate overnight to assist those participating in the Ganpati Visarjan during Anant Chaturdashi.

Anticipating a surge in passenger numbers across various parts of Mumbai during the Ganpati festival and Anant Chaturdashi, the railways have also arranged for additional services. Central Railway and Western Railway will jointly operate a total of 34 special late-night suburban trains.

Central Railway to run 22 special trains

In view of the Ganpati Visarjan, Central Railway has arranged for a total of 22 additional night services on the Main Line and Harbour Line.

Extra trains will run on the Main Line between CSMT and Kalyan/Thane.

These services will be available over three consecutive nights, from September 23 to September 26. 'Down' trains from CSMT towards Kalyan will operate between approximately 1:40 AM and 3:25 AM.

'Up' trains arriving at CSMT from Kalyan and Thane will run between 12:05 AM and 2:00 AM.

Four special trains will also operate on the Harbour Line between CSMT and Panvel on the nights of September 25 and 26.

Trains from CSMT to Panvel will depart at 1:30 AM and 2:45 AM.

Services from Panvel to CSMT will run at 1:00 AM and 1:45 AM.

Meanwhile, Western Railway has also arranged to run a total of 12 additional services on the Churchgate-Virar route on the nights of September 25 (today) and September 26 (tomorrow); this includes a total of six pairs of trains.
