Kamal Haasan hails Vijay's TN Government for Bharathiraja memorial: 'Gratitude rendered in the fullness of time'

A major tribute is set to come up in Theni district for one of Tamil cinema ’s most respected filmmakers, Bharathiraja . The Tamil Nadu Government has announced plans to build a memorial hall in his birthplace, complete with a bronze statue. The announcement has now received appreciation from actor and Rajya Sabha MP Kamal Haasan , who praised the government for recognising the director’s contribution to Tamil cinema. The proposed memorial is being seen as a fitting tribute to a filmmaker who brought the lives, emotions and landscapes of rural Tamil Nadu to the screen.
