Kashika Kapoor Defends Actors Against Accent Criticism in Bollywood
Mumbai, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Actress Kashika Kapoor recently shared her views on the criticism faced by South Indian actors regarding their Hindi accents while working in Bollywood. In an exclusive conversation, she emphasized that an actor should be recognized for their talent, and language should not be a barrier. When asked about the backlash some South Indian actors receive for their accents in Hindi films, Kashika stated, “I believe this happens often, but an actor's identity should always be as a performer.
Language should never be a hindrance. We shouldn’t divide the industry into Telugu or Hindi film industries.” Rashmika Mandanna, during her appearance on "Koffee with Karan," revealed that she has faced criticism for her accent throughout her career. Nevertheless, she has never allowed this criticism to deter her from working across various film industries and languages. Rashmika highlighted that her accent is a natural reflection of her South Indian roots and expressed her desire to work in multiple languages rather than limiting herself to one industry.Referencing Rashmika, Kashika noted that the level of judgment she faces is unwarranted. "Everyone is working hard and delivering great performances. Take Rashmika Mandanna as an example. She is a fantastic actor and performer, and I don’t think anyone should judge her based on her language or accent. It is part of her identity that makes her unique. Ultimately, it’s her performance that matters," Kashika added. She praised Rashmika for being part of major films like "Animal" and doing excellent work, urging audiences to appreciate actors for their talent rather than their accents.
