Kuldeep Singh on celebrating eco-friendly Ganpati: 'A little conscious choice can make the festival more pure'
Actor Kuldeep Singh, who was last seen in Anupamaa and is currently playing Raghu Damani in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, opened up about how he is celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi this year.
For Kuldeep, this year's Ganpati is more about staying mindful and feeling grateful. Talking about it, he said, "For me, Ganpati has always been about faith and gratitude, and this year I wanted to celebrate it even more mindfully. I have brought a small eco-friendly idol made of natural clay with organic colours. Instead of going for visarjan in a river, I will do a simple visarjan at home and use that water for my plants. We are also completely avoiding plastic and thermocol and decorating only with fresh flowers and natural things. I feel Bappa would be happiest when we celebrate Him while protecting His own creation - nature. A little conscious choice can make the festival more pure and blessed."
The actor also made his own Ganpati idol this time and called it a very special experience. "Making my own Ganpati idol with clay this year was such a fun and soulful experience. My hands were full of clay, the table was messy, but my heart was so happy. There is something very pure about making Bappa with your own hands, with your own imperfect but heartfelt touch. We played music, laughed, made mistakes and started again. It didn't have to be big, it just had to be made with love. That small idol now feels more special than any idol bought from the market," he shared.
Kuldeep feels Ganpati is not just a festival, but an emotion. "Ganpati festival is not just a festival, it's an emotion. That's why it stays with you even after visarjan. Because Bappa is not just a God you pray to, He is family. For those few days, He is not an idol, He is a guest in your house. You wake up with Him, talk to Him, offer Him modaks, share your worries and wishes. He brings everyone together to decorate, sing and dance. And then comes the goodbye. Your eyes become moist because you are not just immersing clay, you are letting go of an energy that made your home come alive. That's pure love," he said.
Speaking about home visarjan, he added, "This year I did visarjan at home and it felt very personal and peaceful. I immersed my small clay Bappa in a tub of water with flowers and chanted with my family. Watching Him dissolve slowly was emotional but also beautiful. Later I used the same water for my plants. It felt like Bappa is still here with me, in my home, in nature. It is simple, eco-friendly and full of faith."
On the work front, Kuldeep is known for playing Lord Vishnu, Lord Ram and Lord Krishna in Vighnaharta Ganesha. He has also been part of shows like Yeh Hai Aashiqui, Savdhaan India, CID and Vikram Betaal Ki Rahasya Gatha, and was seen in the web series Raisinghani vs Raisinghani.
