Lea Salonga honoured with Hollywood Walk of Fame star; becomes first Filipino recipient

Actor and singer Lea Salonga has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The organisation announced the news as it shared pictures of the actor on the Instagram handle on Saturday, which featured Salonga alongside the star. "History was made today on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Congratulations to the legendary @msleasalonga, who became the first Filipino person to receive a on the Hollywood Walk of Fame," read the caption.

"From originating the role of Kim in Miss Saigon and becoming the first Asian woman to win a Tony Award, to providing the beloved singing voices of Princess Jasmine in Disney's 'Aladdin' and Mulan in 'Mulan', Lea's extraordinary career has inspired generations around the world," read the caption.

The actor featured in 1981's "Tropang Bulilit" which served as her acting debut. She essayed the role of Lisa. She is also known for voicing Princess Jasmine in "Aladdin" (1992) and Fa Mulan in "Mulan" (1998) and "Mulan II", among others.
