Manish Goel: I ask Bappa for new opportunities and for the right doors to open
Actor Manish Goel , known for shows such as Anupamaa, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Saara Akaash, Bhabhi, Maayka and Aisa Des Hai Mera, has been part of Indian television for over two decades. Speaking about Ganesh Chaturthi , the actor says the festival holds a special place in his life and is closely connected with family, faith and togetherness.
Describing Mumbai during the festival, Manish says, “Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai is an emotion like no other. The city transforms into one big family. The air is filled with dhol-tasha, the chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ and pure devotion. From the grandeur of Lalbaugcha Raja to the little pandals in every galli, you feel the same love, energy and unity. Mumbai doesn’t just celebrate Bappa, it lives Him for those 10 days.”
His prayers this year are primarily for his family. “My only prayer to Bappa is to bless my family, my friends and all my well-wishers. I pray He takes care of my son, my daughter and my wife, keeps them healthy, happy and safe. For myself, I ask Him for new opportunities, for the right doors to open and for the strength to work hard with honesty,” he says.
Manish also looks forward to visiting friends during the festival. “Every home has a different story, a different decoration, but the same love for Bappa. You enter and you are instantly offered modaks, laughter and warmth. We sit together, do aarti, chat for hours and click photos with Bappa. It doesn’t feel like a formal visit; it feels like Bappa Himself has brought us all together again,” he says.
For the actor, the celebrations are also part of a long-standing family tradition. “Bappa has been a consistent blessing for me and my family, and we are absolutely blessed and grateful to have been hosting him for the last 20 years."
