Natural Remedies for Premature Grey Hair: Homemade Oil Recipe
Many individuals today are facing the challenge of premature greying of their hair. This condition can arise from various factors such as genetics, lack of essential nutrients, stress, and specific health issues. As a result, many turn to hair dyes or colors to mask their grey strands.
The Importance of Nourishment for Hair
However, what hair and scalp truly require is proper nourishment. In Ayurveda, natural ingredients such as black sesame seeds, amla (Indian gooseberry), fenugreek, and bhringraj have been traditionally utilized for hair care. You can create a nourishing hair oil at home using these ingredients, which can benefit both your hair and scalp. Here’s how to make it.
Ingredients
3 teaspoons black sesame seeds
1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
3 teaspoons nigella seeds (kalonji)
3 to 5 fresh curry leaves
200 ml cold-pressed black sesame oil
1 teaspoon amla powder
1 teaspoon bhringraj powder
Instructions
Begin by placing the black sesame seeds, nigella seeds, fenugreek seeds, and curry leaves in a pan. Lightly roast them over low heat until they emit a pleasant aroma, then turn off the heat, ensuring they do not burn.
Let the roasted mixture cool completely, then grind it coarsely in a mixer; there’s no need for a fine powder. Next, pour 200 ml of black sesame oil into a clean glass container and add one teaspoon each of amla and bhringraj powders. Incorporate the coarsely ground mixture into the oil and mix thoroughly.
Cover the container and allow it to sit for 24 hours. Afterward, strain the oil using a clean cloth or sieve.
Transfer the oil into a clean, dry bottle and store it away from moisture and sunlight.
Application Method
Apply the oil to your scalp a few hours before washing your hair or at night before bedtime. Gently massage it into your scalp with your fingertips. Wash your hair the following day with a mild shampoo. This treatment can be used 2–3 times a week. Remember to conduct a patch test before first use; if you notice any itching, burning, or allergic reactions, discontinue use.
