The 52 year old comedian, known for Phoenix Nights, is currently touring the UK but his show tonight was interrupted by a technical glitch. However, mere minutes into his act, he was left unable to carry on when a camera filming the crowd suddenly malfunctioned. The problem meant he had little choice but to wing it whilst technicians worked to resolve the fault.

"What's going on here? We can't stop, everyone's already come in!" he quipped to the packed venue. "What shall I do? Shall I just fill? It's warm in here isn't it? It's nice, that."

Embracing the situation, Kay perched himself on a chair and kept talking to the crowd, turning the blunder into entertainment as he improvised through the unplanned interruption, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The comic's current tour, which kicked off in 2022, has become one of the most triumphant in British stand-up history. He has demolished attendance records at Manchester's AO Arena and made history as the first performer globally to stage a monthly residency at London's O2 Arena, delivering 45 performances, the most by any act at the location.

Following extraordinary ticket demand, Kay has continuously announced additional dates, pushing the tour through to 2026. Despite a bit of a rocky start, viewers were soon chuckling along with his signature humour and sharp comebacks, and the show quickly found its rhythm again.
