Polo under the stars: Jaipur's royal sport gets a new glow
With the polo season underway, exciting matches on the grounds are a sight to behold. Adding to the excitement surrounding the royal sport, recently introduced night polo matches , which are part of the September Jaipur Polo Season 2026 , are bringing a fresh flavour and plenty of excitement to Jaipur’s polo community. The grounds, decked out with floodlights and packed with guests glued to the action from the boxes, made for an exciting night of polo.
Two exciting semi-final matches of the RPC Cup Tournament (4 Goals) were played under floodlights. The first saw Team Rambagh/Mayfair Polo take on Team Gohilwad, while the second featured Team RPC against Team Jaipur. Padmanabh Singh, erstwhile Jaipur royal, delivered a remarkable performance for the winning side, scoring all 12 of Team Jaipur’s goals. The team also featured Vishwaraj Singh Rathore, Akshai Malik, and Kuldeep Singh Rathore.
Padmanabh Singh, who led Team Jaipur, said, “This is a historic occasion for Jaipur and polo enthusiasts. Jaipur has hosted India’s first-ever night polo matches at the Indian Polo Association level, and the Rajasthan Polo Club has now joined the select league of floodlit polo grounds around the world. This initiative will give busy polo enthusiasts an opportunity to watch matches in the evening while promoting Rajasthan tourism and showcasing Jaipur’s rich polo heritage.”
