Ramayana Movie: 5 Things to Know Before Watching Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's Epic
Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited Ramayana: Part 1 is set to arrive in cinemas on November 5, just ahead of Diwali. Considered one of the biggest and most ambitious projects in Indian cinema, the film has already generated significant excitement among movie lovers.
Featuring a prominent star cast, an impressive musical collaboration and large-scale visual effects, the mythological epic promises a grand theatrical experience.
One of the biggest attractions of Ramayana is its impressive ensemble cast. Ranbir Kapoor portrays Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi plays Goddess Sita, and Yash appears as Ravana. Sunny Deol takes on the role of Lord Hanuman, while Ravie Dubey plays Lakshman.
Ranbir Kapoor is also set to portray Parshurama, giving audiences another interesting character to look out for in the film.
The film’s music is another major highlight, bringing together two internationally recognised composers, A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
The project marks Hans Zimmer’s first Indian film, and his collaboration with Rahman has raised expectations surrounding the soundtrack. The trailer has already offered a glimpse of the musical experience, particularly during the dramatic sequences.
Reportedly produced on a budget of Rs 4,000 crore, Ramayana is among the most expensive Indian film projects ever undertaken. With a runtime of 195 minutes, the film aims to present the epic on an exceptionally grand scale.
Audiences will be able to watch it in several formats, including 2D, 3D, IMAX 3D, 4DX and ScreenX.
The makers have brought international expertise to the film’s action and visual effects. Stunt coordinators Terry Notary and Guy Norris are handling the action sequences, while DNEG is responsible for the visual effects.
Although the teaser faced criticism over its VFX quality, the subsequent trailer received a comparatively better response.
With a U certificate, Ramayana: Part 1 is suitable for audiences across age groups. The film is releasing in six languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and English.
It is also scheduled to reach audiences in more than 100 countries. Since the Ramayana is a familiar and significant story for many Indian families, the film is positioned as a major theatrical attraction during the Diwali season.
Ramayana: Part 1 arrives with enormous expectations, backed by a popular cast, an ambitious production budget and the musical collaboration of A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
While its lengthy runtime and pacing may not appeal to every viewer, the film’s scale, music, action and visual presentation make it one of the most anticipated cinematic releases.
For audiences interested in mythology and large-scale filmmaking, it offers plenty of reasons to visit the theatre this Diwali.
