 If you have a ration card and haven't purchased grain from a ration shop in several months, this information is important for you. The Kerala government is investigating ration cards that have not been used for more than six months. As a result, more than 5.62 lakh cards will be frozen.

Action will be taken against 5.62 lakh ration cards.

There are 562,494 non-priority ration cards in Kerala that have not been used for rations for more than six months. These include approximately 440,811 white cards and 121,683 blue cards. Ration access to these cards may be temporarily suspended from October 1, 2026.

Freezing your ration card does not mean that your card will be permanently disabled. In this case, you will still have the opportunity to reactivate it even after it is frozen. Therefore, all members listed on the card must complete e-KYC within three months. The mobile numbers of all family members must also be updated in the ration card records.
