Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs: Urvashi recalls fainting while shooting 'Thankathoni', says, 'The shoot went till 3 pm from 8 am; I hadn't eaten anything'
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs has been winning hearts with its young contestants and their performances, but the latest episode had something extra special in store. Veteran actress Urvashi dropped by as a guest. Contestant Dhaksha opened the segment with a rendition of ‘ Thankathoni ’ from Urvashi’s film Mazhavilkavadi , and what started as a performance quickly turned into a warm tribute to the actress and her decades-long career in Malayalam cinema.
While appreciating the young talent in her singing, the actress shared some of her fond memories of shooting the iconic song.
“The shooting started at 8 in the morning and continued until 3 in the afternoon. I had not eaten anything that day,” she recalled. Things took a turn when her blood pressure dropped. “Suddenly, I fainted because my blood pressure dropped,” she said, adding that the crew rushed to help her with lemon juice and salt. “After that, I started acting again,” she said simply.
But what followed was the part that left everyone on stage laughing. Urvashi recalled a scene in which she had to carry a goat while running. “There was a scene where I had to take the goat and run. In the last shot, I ran and ran and finally got into the car,” she said while narrating the incident. Her hilarious way of recalling the shoot had the judges and everyone around her in splits.
Judge Sujatha Mohan couldn’t hold back her admiration once the story was shared. Turning to Urvashi, she said, “Urvashi, you are the superstar. If we take India’s best five actors, one among them is Urvashi.” She laughed and added, “We have to accept that. There is no escaping from that.” Sujatha went on to thank the actress for her body of work, saying, “A big thanks to Urvashi for contributing and giving us so many roles. Nobody can even come close to that. That is how talented she is.”
