Sampoorna actor Aham Sharma talks about reality TV boom; says "I am an actor and I truly love acting"
Actor Aham Sharma , who was earlier seen in the television show ' Sampoorna ' playing Dr. Aakash Sukhdev Malhotra , has now opened up on the increasing popularity of reality shows nowadays.
The actor said that while he personally does not enjoy the genre, he understands its massive appeal among audiences.
Speaking about the trend, Aham said: "Reality shows are doing exceptionally well today. Audiences are genuinely connecting with it, and that is clearly visible in the numbers and the sheer volume of shows being made. Personally, if you ask me, trust me I don't really enjoy watching these reality shows much. That's just my personal choice. But I completely understand why viewers are loving it. The fact that so many reality shows are being launched and are doing extremely well proves that there is a strong demand for it."
Reflecting on why the format works, he added: "I have never really sat down and analysed the reason behind its success, but if I have to guess, I feel people today want to see something real. They want to watch real emotions, real people and real situations. Reality TV ticks that box, and perhaps that is why it resonates so much."
Aham, however, asserted that acting will always remain his priority. "For me personally, there is no confusion, I prefer acting. That is what I love doing, and that is what I want to keep doing. At the same time, I believe you should never say never in life. You never know what the future holds and how things unfold, so we will see as it comes. Essentially, I must say this, I am an actor and I truly love acting. That will always be my first preference," he said.
On the professional front, Aham has featured in several shows like ' Mahabharat ', 'Dosti... Yaariyan... Manmarziyan', and ' Brahmarakshas ' among others.
He has also featured in Bollywood films including '1962 My Country Land' which premiered at Marche du Film of the 69th Cannes Film Festival and 'Acting Ka Bhoot'. He has also acted in the web series 'Satta: The Online Scam'.
