A ration card will no longer be issued based on the submission of just a single document or proof of address; six specific types of documents are now mandatory. **Which six documents are required?**
Aadhaar card, proof of residence, income certificate, birth certificate, photograph of the house, and bank account details.
Simply uploading an Aadhaar card with the application is no longer sufficient. You must also provide proof of residence, a photograph of your house, an income certificate as proof of earnings, and birth certificates for every family member. Additionally, a photograph and mobile number of the applicant or the head of the household are required at the time of application; an OTP for verification will be sent to this mobile number.
**How to apply online**
The online application process for a ration card is quite straightforward. You can complete it via the e-District portal or at your nearest Common Service Center (CSC) or Jan Seva Kendra. It is advisable to keep scanned copies of all documents ready before applying, as this will make uploading the digital copies easier.
Visit the portal, register, and log in. Then, click on the link for a new ration card application. Accurately fill in the form with details regarding the head of the household, address, bank account, and income. Next, enter the names and Aadhaar numbers of other family members. Upload the required documents, including the applicant's photograph and a photograph of the house. Finally, pay the application fee and submit the form. Make sure to print and keep the application receipt for your records.
**Verification after application**
Once you have applied online, your form will be sent to the Block Development Officer (BDO) or the regional Food Supply Inspector for scrutiny. This will be followed by a physical verification process. A digital ration card is issued within 30 days after these steps are completed.
