Suraj Berry , son of veteran actor Sudesh Berry , is back in India and ready to pursue his acting career with renewed enthusiasm. His journey began with high hopes, but The Little Godfather, which was nearly 90 per cent complete and was expected to mark his debut, was shelved. A couple of subsequent projects also failed to materialise, prompting him to move to Australia for acting training. Now, he is auditioning for projects across television, films, OTT and micro-dramas . Despite the setbacks, Suraj says his enthusiasm for acting remains undiminished. “I am as fresh as I was when I entered the industry, and I am looking forward to finding work that challenges me as a performer,” he says.

Suraj is keen to take on roles that allow him to explore different facets of his craft, irrespective of the medium. Sharing an update on his recent work and what he hopes to do next, he says, “I recently shot for a micro-drama and a music video in Rajasthan, sung by Raj Barman. I’m now looking for some good work, whether it’s an OTT project, a film or a good show on television. I believe there are so many avenues available today, and I would like to take up anything that offers me something interesting and challenging. I’m currently auditioning for various projects across TV, OTT and films, trusting my instincts to guide me towards the right opportunities.”

Suraj believes the entertainment industry has evolved considerably, giving actors more ways to showcase their talent beyond mainstream films and television. He sees the growth of digital platforms and changing audience preferences as opportunities to experiment with different formats and connect with viewers. He says, “Today, being an actor is no longer limited to working in Bollywood or television serials. With the growth of digital platforms and changing audience preferences, actors can explore various avenues to showcase their talent and build their careers.”

‘My father has taught me to trust my instincts’

Having grown up around the industry, Suraj has observed his father, Sudesh Berry , navigate his acting career. He credits his father’s advice with shaping his approach to professional choices and reinforcing the importance of staying true to himself. He says, “Father has always taught me to trust my gut instinct and do everything with complete honesty and integrity.”

Although Suraj makes his own decisions when signing projects, he values his father’s guidance when he needs it. He says, “I don’t seek his approval before signing a project, and he likes it that way. However, my father remains available whenever I need his advice about acting or choosing a project.”

With his training in Australia and experience of navigating an unpredictable start, Suraj is now focused on finding roles that challenge him and help him grow as a performer. He hopes to carve his own path in the industry while staying guided by the instincts and principles he has learnt to trust.
